Our Care givers led by Santhosh and Sarath with the help of all the staff members of Asha Niketan visited the Outreach members. Items donated by well-wishers were distributed. You can see that they were all very happy to see each other after a long gap due to COVID-19 restrictions. UMBRELLA MAKING PROJECT
On this World Environment Day 2020, Sahala, one of our assistants together with Ajith and Kanaka, two our core members (persons with learning disabilities), participate in the challenge of planting a tree organised by NSS Passion Followers, an Indian government program for Youths.
![]() We would like to appreciate the Life Blood Donation Team Payyoli for their support and donations towards our community. We are so thankful for the food items and vegetables we received from you today! Please convey the message of love from all of us at Asha Niketan Nandi Bazar to all your team members. ![]() In 2019 our community started an exciting new project: THERAPEUTIC PHOTOGRAPHY! It’s all about using photos to help core members to express themselves, their feelings, emotions, hopes. Imagine what this might mean to a person with very few words, if any: photos give them a chance to show others what makes them happy, sad, or upset. In brief, this self-expression builds up a person’s sense of their own dignity. Photographs are at the heart of our technique: we take them, we view them, and we talk about them. But to bring out the full meaning, we also use other art therapy techniques like drawings, paintings, collage etc. The therapeutic photography sessions take once a week with a group of 5-6 core members. They are conducted by Robert, an art therapy student and photographer who is a member of L’Arche Brussels and currently working on our community as International Mission Assistant. The first group Workshop ended with one final task: each person chose one important aspect of their life and made a photo-portrait of that. From the pictures, it is evident that the core members also feel that lack of communication doesn't give life and they don't appreciate it when people fight.
